Emily Griffiths has written about the Council opens confidential workshops on plans for four storey buildings along River Torrens in the East Torrens Messenger.
RESIDENTS will be allowed to attend previously confidential workshops on plans for four storey buildings along the River Torrens.
Norwood, Payneham & St Peters councillors last night voted 7:6 in favour of opening meetings to the public on its proposal to increase building height limits in St Peters, Joslin, Royston Park, Marden and Felixstow.
"I think that there is a perception in the community that the council has tried to push this through as quickly and quietly as possible," Cr Duke said.
"Residents and ratepayers have every right to know how we do things (and) this is a chance to let people know we listen and we take it seriously."
Many of the residents at the public meeting criticised the council for not informing residents of the proposed changes and a lack of trust. SPRA sees this a positive step forward in restoring the relationship between residents and the council.
It is disappointing that Councillors Sue Whitington, Lucy Marcuccitti, Geoff Rundle, Connie Granozio, Isaac Pasalidis and John Frogley voted against the motion. The motion was proposed by Councillor Duke and seconded by Councillor Tarzia. Full details are in the Council minutes for 4th March 2013.
