As reported in the Sunday Mail by Renarto Castello in the Environment Resources and Development Court orders owners to repair neglected heritage site Bell's Plumbers Shop article on 21st December:
In an unprecedented decision Environment Resources and Development Court Judge Susanne Cole has upheld the state's first ever Heritage protection order that was issued against Mr March, of St Peters, for failing to take "reasonable" care of the single-storey shop.
National Trust of SA CEO Eric Heapy said the decision sets a precedent for other property owners "who believe they can ignore their statutory obligations and get away with it". "This whole fiasco has gone on far too long. The Trust placed Bell's Plumbing on our heritage at risk list back in 2009 and it has continued to deteriorate further ever since," he said.
"Clearly, the owner wants to demolish it but we will do everything in our power to prevent that ever happening".
