NBN have been rolling out fibre (FTTP) upgrade through areas that currently have copper (FTTN). The program is called Upgrading to NBN FTTP with a higher speed plan. There is no cost to change, but you must commit to a Home Fast (100Mbps) or faster plan for 12 months. In the future a FTTC to FTTP upgrade path may be offered.
You can enter your address on the NBN website to check if this upgrade applies to you. You can also check with your current internet provider. Several companies are offering discounts of either a free first month or $20/month for the first six months.
If you have questions, the Whirlpool Forum is a helpful community who are happy to answer basic questions. Start with either the Choosing an ISP or NBN sections. The NBN Rollout - Norwood SA (5NRW w/ 5PRO) thread is specifically for this area.
