InDaily have published an article by Helen Karakulak titled Historic Kent Town pub to pour again, flanked by new housing towers.
Developer Daniel Palumbo is quoted in the article:
The state heritage-listed pub was one of Adelaide’s most popular in the mid-90s and was now expected to reopen by 2029 – after a 15-level ‘Hills tower’ and a 16-level city tower were built alongside, which would take two and a half years, Palumbo said.
SPRA are concerned by this statement in the article:
The site will include 235 on-site car parks for the 211 apartments, Housing Minister Nick Champion brushing off concerns about traffic congestion at the corner of the busy city thoroughfare.
Parking spots in Kent Town is already very limited and the adjacent suburb of Hackney has narrow streets with limited parking.
The NPSP council's On-Street Parking Policy places the development in the Mixed Use Higher Density zone which means that resident's parking has only a medium priority. It should also be noted that:
Residential Permits will not be issued to residents or owners of dwellings within multi-dwelling developments that have provision of off-street car parking facilities, constructed and completed for occupation after 1 November 2021. Residents living in these developments are expected to make adequate arrangements for on-site parking within their premises.
SPRA suggests that a minimum of two car parks is provided per apartment and that adequate visitor parking for both residents and the pub.
